Study Vacation Programme

What is a study vacation programme?

This is a hybrid training programme that combines your distance learning programme with a face to face component here in Tlc Centre. The best of both worlds. It is designed for trainees who cannot do a normal 1 month "intensive" for whatever reason, but who would like to participate in a real "hands on" programme for a limited period of time in the form of a holiday in sunny Gran Canaria — part study and part relaxation. We offer this option through our Study / Vacation Programme, which is an "add on" to normal course fees and is not included in the course price. The idea is that you can take up this option at any time after course completion to fit in with your timetable.

What are the benefits?

Teaching practice and one to one input. Lack of Teaching practice is the only drawback of all distance teaching programmes. We need time in the classroom to put our TESOL studies into context. After all - this is where we learn our trade - and this is where we do our job.

One to one input irons out any doubts or concerns about any part of the course. We focus on your needs and use authentic materials. Your personal tutor will help through guided lesson planning, class observations and assessed teaching practice.

The minimum number of contact hours on a full time 1 month intensive is 6 hours of observations and 6 hours of assessed TP, but at Tlc, because we have our own classes running all the time, you can do your assessed Tps at your leisure plus as many unassessed classes as you like by working side by side with a Tlc teacher. The unassessed Tps are completely free of charge and are our way of giving you the opportunity to get as much "hands on" experience as you want at no extra cost.

Another huge advantage is that you can work in all areas - with children, students, adults and in businesses (1 to 1 and small groups). Valuable experience for you at no extra cost — only in time.

Whether you come alone or with your partner or spouse, or for a family holiday, our study / vacation courses are a great way to finish your studies. You team teach with qualified teachers, in proper classrooms with real students. You can come for a few days or a week or for as long as you like, and the beauty of the programme is that it can be done entirely at your leisure. You can slip this into your annual holiday time, or take advantage of cheap travel and special offers.

If you do not speak Spanish you have the added advantage of living in a foreign language yourself (outside the classroom) which often hammers home the need to communicate clearly and effectively at all times. A valuable lesson for a language teacher.

You have 3 options at each level if you decide to come to Tlc Centre and meet the team. They are literally "optional extras" and are there for your convenience should you decide to take advantage of them and option 1 is completely free.
